For more than 25 years Grammy® Award Winner Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience band have been sharing their Creole culture and indigenous music with a global audience. Delivering a staggering 5000+ legendary live performances in more than 40 countries they are some of the most visible and highly respected artists in their genre.
They have shared studio and stage with Dr. John, Stevie Wonder, Los Lobos, Paul Simon, Robert Palmer, the meters, Dennis Quaid and Dave Matthews Band to name a few. They've been the first in their genre to perform in Cuba, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Africa, Seychelles, Mauritius and South America with the US State Dept. They have performed for ice cream mavens, Ben & Jerry, snowboard king, Jake Burton Carpenter and for many US and foreign presidents, ambassadors and diplomats.
Simien recently collaborated with Randy Newman for the Disney feature film “THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG” set in the French Qtr, New Orleans with onscreen images of a Zydeco rubboard and accordion. He is also being featured on Louisiana Tourism Industry TV commercials and print ads. He’s contributed music and been on screen in multiple feature films. Their music is heard on terrestrial and satellite radio all over the world.
Simien is a proactive member of his music community as a thoughtful leader advocating for quality of life issues while helping to create a more developed music industry infrastructure for his fellow and emerging artists. In addition, Simien’s dynamic educational program “Creole for Kidz & The History of Zydeco” has reached more than 250,000 students, teachers and parents around the world. His nonfiction book for school aged children with the same title will be released in 2009.
