Universal Música de Producción is a diverse and comprehensive collection of over 5,000 CDs with over 90,000 titles. Our renowned labels include Atmosphere, Bruton, Chappell, Killer Tracks, Network Music and many more and we cover every genre of music from live epic orchestra to solo instruments and underscores to pop/rock.

Our roster of writers is equally diverse including the legendary Hal David, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Michael Nyman, Matt Hales of Aqualung, Redzone Entertainment and Ennio Morricone ensuring authenticity and quality in all areas of production. We offer a full music supervision service to our clients. We provide free music searches, bespoke music edits, unique compilations, re-versioning and commissioned music.

Where do we come from?

The Universal Música de Producción heritage has evolved over decades into a diverse and comprehensive collection of popular and respected group of labels.

Most recently in 2007 BMG Zomba was acquired by Universal Music Publishing Group and we were welcomed as part of the Universal Music Group. We continue to work with our highly respected labels with international additions such as Master Source and Immediate music.

With over 30 global offices we remain the leader in Production Music worldwide.


KEY DATES IN OUR HISTORY

1941 The Chappell Recorded Music Library begins when Charles Williams is engaged to conduct the Queens Hall Light Orchestra for a series of recordings (78’s), recorded exclusively for professional use in radio, films and particularly newsreels

1977 Bruton Music is founded as a subsidiary of ATV Music under its owner, TV magnate, Lou Grade. The library takes its name from ATV’s London offices in Bruton Street, Mayfair

1980 FirstCom Music is founded in Dallas, Texas by radio entrepreneur Jim Long

1981 Atmosphere Music founded by John Lee

1982 ATV Music sold to pop star Michael Jackson, administrated by CBS Songs

1985 Michael Jackson sells Bruton Music to Zomba Music Publishing, a growing independent music group formed in South Africa ten years earlier

1988 Zomba acquires Chappell from the Warner Chappell Music Group, which is integrated into the Bruton Music office

1989 Killer Tracks is founded in Hollywood, California by music publishing veteran Sam Trust

1990 Zomba acquires FirstCom

1991 BMG Music Publishing launched. Acquires Killer Tracks in USA

1995 BMG acquires Atmosphere Music and Match

1996 Zomba Production Music launched, offering Bruton, Chappell & FirstCom under one roof

2001 BMG Music Publishing acquires San Diego, California based company Network Music

2002 The Zomba Group is acquired by the Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG)

2003 BMGZomba Production Music is launched

2004 BMG Production Music - Latin America is created

2007 Universal Music Publishing Group acquires BMG Music Publishing and Universal Música de Producción is born in Beverly Hills, California

2011 Universal Música de Producción relocates to Mexico City in order to better serve Latin America
